Why are women drug addicts considered to be one of the most despised fringe groups in European society? The artist Ulrike Möntmann from the University of Applied Arts Vienna sought the answer to this question in the arts-based research project "THIS BABY DOLL WILL BE A JUNKIE", funded by the FWF. Möntmann collaborated with female prisoners in five European countries and compared their biographies. The resulting audio-visual portraits functioned as interventions in public space, thus placing a hidden phenomenon at the center of society.
