Immune research for improved cancer therapies
Maria Sibilia is a molecular biologist and has been head of the Institute of Cancer Research at the Medical University of Vienna since 2010. Her research, supported by the FWF, focuses on how the immune system interacts with tumor cells and influences each other. A better understanding of the basic mechanisms involved in the development of cancer will help to make more precise use of standard drug therapies. The aim is to develop cancer into a chronic disease in the long term.
