The physics of everyday life

Smart phones, sat navs, computers. We are surrounded by technology and want the devices to be as small, safe and efficient as possible. Such progress has been made possible by insights gained from physics. The physicist Alberta Bonanni also contributes to these developments. With the support of the FWF she is researching new quantum materials to make computers reliable and secure.

Ever since childhood, this top researcher has been fascinated by the world of light and crystals and also by art. Bonanni is convinced that in order to understand the laws underpinning our lives, we have to observe and explore the world from multiple perspectives.
