Migration and border security in the Habsburg Empire

Systematic controls were carried out at the Habsburg Empire’s border with the Ottoman Empire as far back as the 18th century. Combined with the mobility control of Ottoman migrants, they were key features of Habsburg population policy. Children of Turkish migrants disadvantaged in Austria

Children of Turkish migrants with low levels of education find it particularly hard to get a higher education in Austria. This was demonstrated by a social science study comparing the country with France and Sweden. The significant findings have now been published in book form.
