Discovery of new mechanism for tumour suppression

A group of researchers from Innsbruck has been the first to describe how damaged cells can be inhibited from multiplying further after incomplete division. Cholesterol-lowering drug can kill melanoma cells

Special cholesterol-lowering drugs can hamper the growth of metastasising melanoma cells if the cellular messenger substance Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is present.
